Thierry Magniez

Thierry Magniez was born in 1974 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France. His training in geology and natural sciences led him to become a biology teacher. He then became responsible for bringing together scientific stakeholders for major expeditions of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. She then moved to Lebanon, where she worked on various issues related to sustainable development, and then to Ankara, where for the last three years she has traveled across Anatolia, from the steppes to the high mountains. Thierry Magniez, an artist and photographer known for his inquisitive and adventurous personality, has been a photography enthusiast since childhood and his close contact with nature is the biggest inspiration for his images. He is committed to raising public awareness on issues related to biodiversity conservation.

Nature Conservation Center

The Nature Conservation Center (NCC) was established in 2004 to effectively conserve biodiversity and sustainably manage natural resources. Since its establishment, DKM has focused on developing new tools and methods for the conservation of biodiversity, sustainable use and adaptation to climate change by following the practices in different parts of the world, and considers the creation of viable solutions as the most important point of the process. DKM considers nature conservation as a multidisciplinary field of study with social, economic and political dimensions. While focusing its work on biodiversity, DKM understands the interconnectedness of these elements and designs and implements solutions on different issues.

French Development Agency

The French Development Agency (AFD) is France’s bilateral development bank supporting the transition to a fairer and more sustainable world. It aims to globally implement France’s sustainable development goals in the international arena. It implements more than 4,200 projects in 150 countries on climate, biodiversity, peace, education, sustainable cities, access to healthcare and better governance.

Since 2005, AFD has been active in Turkey and has provided more than €4 billion in sustainability financing to public investments, municipalities, public banks and the private sector. Since 2020, AFD’s priorities in Turkey have been equitable energy transition, sustainable and smart cities, protection of nature and nature services, and gender. Projects are also being implemented to ensure migrants’ access to municipal services and the labor market. In the aftermath of last year’s earthquake disaster, it continues to support green and sustainable urban and economic restructuring.
