Free Museums for 100 Days

IBB Kültür AŞ will host local visitors free of charge until 11:00 pm for 100 days with the museum entrance campaign to be launched in the museums it operates for the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Kültür AŞ is organizing a special campaign to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and to share Istanbul’s historical treasures with more people. As part of this special campaign, local visitors will be able to visit the Basilica Cistern, the Cistern of Goodwill, Miniatürk and Panorama 1453 History Museum free of charge from October 2 until 11:00 am for 100 days.

Local visitors wishing to visit all these museums must show a special code obtained through Radar Istanbul at the entrance.

History Reflected in Water: Basilica Cistern

The Basilica Cistern, which has undergone the most comprehensive restoration by IBB Heritage, is a historical building and attracts great interest from local and foreign tourists in its renovated state. This historical cistern, restored by IBB Heritage with a modern museum approach, hosts various events with its impressive atmosphere and takes its visitors on a historical journey.

1600 Years of Legacy: Serefiye Cistern

Şerefiye Cistern is the oldest building in the world to integrate a 360-degree projection mapping system. This cistern offers visitors an extraordinary museum experience by bringing together history, art and technology from 1600 years ago. Two different projection shows titled “Şerefiye Cistern and Water Civilization Istanbul”, realized in cooperation with IBB Kültür AŞ and TUCE Investment, are also presented to visitors here.

A 3D Museum Experience: Panorama 1453 History Museum

Panorama 1453 History Museum recreates the history of May 29, 1453 with a digital interpretation. The world’s first fully panoramic museum, it is highlighted by the projection mapping show “Sultan Mehmed’s Dream”, which tells the story of Sultan Mehmed’s conquest of Constantinople. It also houses the Costanzo da Ferrara medallion that Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror commissioned 542 years ago.

Where Time Stops: Miniatürk

Miniatürk brings together the cultures and architectural heritage of every civilization that has ruled and left its mark on these lands, from Antiquity to Rome, Byzantium, Seljuks and Ottomans. The Istanbul Historic Peninsula Model Exhibition includes 1/87th scale models of more than 10,000 figures in this area.
