The “Author of the Year” events organized by the Nilüfer Municipality every year in memory of a writer are being dedicated to Rıfat Ilgaz, one of the master writers of Turkish literature, this year.
A short story competition is also being organized as part of the event for the 2025 Writer of the Year Rıfat Ilgaz Story Award. Applications for the competition, which will contribute to the discovery of new talents, will begin on June 16, 2025. The last application date is August 29, 2025. Candidates can submit their applications via cargo or by hand to the Nilüfer Municipality Libraries.
It is stated that participants can apply to the competition with previously unpublished and unpublished works, using pseudonyms and with a maximum of two stories. The Selection Committee includes Burcu Aktaş, Turgay Fişekçi, Nalan Karagöz, Nahit Kayabaşı and Figen Şakacı.
The results will be announced on October 27, 2025. The participant who is deemed worthy of the first prize will receive a cash prize of 10 thousand TL, while the five people deemed worthy of the honorable mention will receive a cash prize of 5 thousand TL.
The application form can be obtained from all libraries of Nilüfer Municipality, as well as accessed from the website or Nilüfer Library’s social media accounts.
