Educator, poet and writer Veli Erdem’s new poetry book “Tanrılar Sofrası” was published by Gülnar Publications. There are 66 poems in the book and the cover design belongs to Hatice Çapar. The back cover of the book is dedicated to Veli Erdem’s poem that gives the book its name:

Veli Erdem is an environmentally sensitive, sincere and resistant poet. “Tanrılar Sofrası” is a book in which his poems influenced by daily life are at the forefront. The social discourse in his poems shows his understanding of poetry and his view of life. Erdem said about his book: “My poems are the mirror of my heart. They are full of me and what is in me. I have no effort to convince anyone. I want to take the reader on an imaginary journey and make them think on this journey.”

Veli Erdem was born in Anamur in 1966. He attended primary school in his village, secondary school and high school in Anamur. In 1990, he graduated from Diyarbakır Dicle University, Department of Geography Teaching. He worked in various schools in Mersin, Adıyaman and Antalya. He is still working in Anamur. His stories were published in culture and literature magazines. In 2011, he received the Aydıncık Municipality Incentive Award at the Kelenderis Story Contest with his story “Sırrım Yüreğimde Patladı (My Secret Exploded in My Heart)”. He is a member of the Literary Association. In addition to his book titled “Tanrılar Sofrası (Gods Table)”, he has five books, “Sevgi Şiddetten Kaçarken (While Love Escapes Violence)” (short story), “Terli Düş (Sweaty Dream)” (short story), “Dünle Gelme Bana (Don’t come to me with yesterday)” (poetry) and “Alkış Kıyamet (Applause and Doom)” (poetry).
