Institut Français Izmir is hosting a solo exhibition dedicated to Laure Daviron, curated by Jean-Luc Maeso.
Laure Daviron Exhibition; January 19 – March 15, 2024 is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 21:00 from January 19 to March 15, 2024 at Izmir French Cultural Center Exhibition Hall. Entrance is free of charge.
”According to Laure Daviron, the world, “a complex reflection of shadow”, leans more towards darkness; not a dull darkness, but a darkness in which shadows emerge, contours take shape and form the beginnings of light and life. The battle of night and day, symbolizing the opposing struggle of natural elements, can also be the battle of earth and sky, wind and sea. The sun can be black while the night is bright. Where does light come from and what is this light? Is it the light of the stars, the sun, the moon, or the light of the ship’s relentless struggle against the storm? It can also be man’s struggle against death, because to comprehend the world one has to lean into one’s own “frightening shadow of light. ”
