13th Behçet Necatigil Poetry Competition

Istanbul Beşiktaş Kabataş Boys’ High School announced that it is organizing the 13th Behçet Necatigil Poetry Competition among high schools.

Participation Conditions:

  • The contest is open to students studying in all private and public high schools affiliated to the General Directorate of Secondary Education, Religious Education, Vocational and Technical Education within the borders of Istanbul. Kabataş Boys’ High School students will be evaluated in the in-school category of the contest.
  • The poems should be written in accordance with the rules of the contest, based on the lines “You stop for a moment, as if you are not expecting it / You enter inside, / Not now, but later / The rush of living takes you away / In the cold wind blowing.” taken from Behçet Nacatigil’s poem “Now Not Later”.
  • There are no restrictions on the length and form of the poems.
  • Poems should not have been published elsewhere before and should not be quoted or adapted.
  • Poems must be written on a computer in Times New Roman font, 12 point font.
  • Participants can participate in the competition with one work.
  • Each school can apply to the competition with a maximum of three works.
  • The participant cannot withdraw his/her work after participating in the competition. The works are not returned.
  • The contest entry form must be signed by a single person and the signatory must be the legal owner of the work. The prize will be awarded only to the legal owner of the work whose signature appears on the documents. In addition, the accuracy of all information stated in the documents in question is binding on the signatory. Any legal liability that may arise due to this information belongs to the signatory.
  • Participants will send their works as an attachment as a Word document to the e-mail address bnecatigilyarisma@gmail.com.
  • Participants must attach the participation form to the last page of the works.

13th Behçet Necatigil Poetry Contest Awards

  • First: 2.000 TL
  • Second: 1.500 TL
  • Third 1,000 TL
  • Honorable Mention Award 500 TL

Total prize money of the competition: 5.000 TL
