Yağmur Mavi Şen – Silence Funeral

Original Title: Sessizlik Cenazesi

I’m lamenting, the lighter’s out of gas
I smell your scent, your dung-mown earth
I scatter the ashes I add to the mists

I arrive without me, I miss the ferry.
I wait on the horizon, I give birth to the day, I curse my midwifery and take the scalpel.

If you ask anyone, I’m standing still.
If you ask me, I’m turning my back.
If you ask anyone, I’m breaking the mirror.
If you ask me, I’m a pain in the arse.

I’ve got a pen in my hand,
the bullet’s too heavy.
I’ve got a pen in my hand,
I’m exhausted.

I live in my head rather than in the world; between two books in a few verses. I am the first person singular in hijab, including paws in my loneliness. That's all I am.
