Mahal Edebiyat II. Story Competition

Objective:
To discover new writers who can breathe new life into our literary world through the competition, which will be organised for the second time this year.

Conditions of Participation:

  • The award is open to writers and writer candidates over the age of 18.
  • One story can be submitted for the award. The stories must not have been published electronically or in hard copy and must not have received an award from another competition. And must not be published until the result of the competition is announced.
  • The story with a maximum length of 2000 words should be sent in a Word file. The story should be written in Times New Roman font, 12 point font, 1.5 line spacing, justified.
  • The application must be sent by the candidate himself/herself to the e-mail address yarisma@mahaledebiyat.com by 10 January 2024, 23.59 pm.
  • The e-mail sent for the application should consist of two Word files.

The first file should contain the name and surname of the author/candidate, the name of the story, address, mobile phone number, e-mail address and a short CV.

  • The preliminary jury will examine the files of the candidates in terms of compliance with the regulations, sloppiness, apparent expression problems, spelling mistakes, etc. Ayşenur Kıvanç Üstüntaş, Buse Karabulut, Çisem Arslan, Ebru Çelik, Elif Türkoğlu, Enes Yılmaz, Hatice Akalın, İlknur Sıdar Gülbay, Melike Kara, Melike Pehlivan İşler will take part in the preliminary jury.
  • The legal responsibility of the stories submitted for the award belongs to the author. In cases such as plagiarism or third party copyright, the responsibility belongs to the author.
  • The Selection Committee will consist of Metin Nart, Mehmet Fırat Pürselim, Başar Yılmaz, Esra Kahya, Gülhan Tuba Çelik, Onur Özkoparan.
  • The secretariat of the competition will be Mete Karagöl.
  • The short list will be announced on 25 February 2024.
  • The name of the author’s story, which the Selection Committee finds worthy of the first prize, will be given to the book to be published by Mahal Edebiyat Yayınları together with the stories of the 10 participants in the final.
  • The winner will be announced on 25 March 2024.
